King Crab Mode
The revolutionary CrabWalk mode allowed drivers to conquer difficult obstacles with ease by moving past or between them diagonally. You’ll still find CrabWalk on your Driver Mode Dial, but it’s now joined by King Crab. This new mode takes off-roading to the next level by allowing the rear wheels to move two times faster than the front wheels and at an angle of up to 10 degrees.
By increasing the speed of the back wheels and allowing them to change angles, you can drift. This makes taking tight turns easier and enables you to precisely align your wheels to navigate between obstacles. This mode is accessed by pressing and holding the King Crab button on the right side of the Driver Mode Dial. You confirm the choice on your screen, and a crab with a crown icon appears, showing you’re ready to go.
ULTRAVISION
Many vehicles have cameras, but the HUMMER EV SUV takes this to the max with the ULTRAVISION system of 17 separate cameras. Cameras are located on the outside rearview mirrors, the front end, the tailgate, the roof spoiler, and the underbody. The underbody cameras face forward and rear and are waterproof and armored for water forging and off-roading.
These cameras provide the best possible real-time, 360-degree view of the area around your HUMMER EV SUV, ensuring you miss nothing. With them, determine the angle of ledges, navigate difficult terrain or obstacles, and even park easily in awkward parking spots. You activate ULTRAVISION by pressing the camera icon on your screen and can then select the view you want by pressing any of the camera views at the bottom of the screen.
Regen on Demand
When you hit the brakes on a gasoline or diesel-powered vehicle, the calipers clamp against the rotors and generate friction that forces the wheels to a stop. The kinetic energy created by braking turns into heat, which quickly evaporates. Regen on Demand prevents losing this useful energy by converting it into electricity to recharge the battery.
It’s controlled by pulling the paddle on the steering wheel forward, which temporarily turns the electric motor into a generator. This allows your HUMMER EV SUV to capture the otherwise lost kinetic energy and convert it into electricity. This electricity is stored in a capacitor and fed into the battery to increase your driving range.
